 Died Dec. 10 of wounds sustained Dec. 7 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Lance Corporal Christopher P. Jacob Levy, 21, born September 5, 1990, gave his life for his country and all who he love and went to be the Lord with on December 10, 2011. 

Funeral services will be held 2p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. The burial, with full military honors, will be at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian. 

L.Cpl. Levy was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. He graduated from Eastern Randolph High School and was a member of the One Spirit Dance Group of the Guilford Native American Association. 

He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps having paid the ultimate price for freedom. “No greater love hath any man than he lay down his life for another.” Your family, your friends, your community and your country will forever be grateful for the sacrifice that you made for us all. L.Cpl. Levy, we all thank you. 

He is survived by his father, Chris Levy (Rhonda) and his mother, Amanda Sheek (Kevin); his brothers, Thunder Levy, Payne Sheek and Elijah Sheek; step brother, Joshua Yates; step sister, Jade Yates; half sister, Amanda Hensley; paternal grandparents, Floyd Levy and Tony and Carol Goss; maternal grandparents, Gearlene and Harda Callicut and Nancy Sheek; uncles, Tim Levy and Andrew Levy and a host of family and friends. 

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church.
