Sgt. Brent M. Maher, 31, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died April 11 in Paktia province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry Regiment, Iowa National Guard, Shenandoah, Iowa. He is survived by his wife Brenna; children Kaitlyn, Matthew and Hannah; mother and stepfather Cheryl and Mick Tyner; brother Greg and Tammy; maternal grandparents Roy and Wilma McGraw; father and mother in law Ron and Susan Weihs; brothers in law Tony and Craig Weihs; sister in law Shelbie Weihs, and a host of other family and friends. | ||||||||
