Port St. Lucie soldier killed in Afghanistan
MIAMI HERALD STAFF REPORT

A Florida soldier was among three troops killed in an explosion in Afghanistan, the military announced Thursday.
Enemy forces attacked the unit of Army Specialist Jordan C. Schumann, 24, of Port St. Lucie with an improvised explosive device on Tuesday in Paktia Province, a Pentagon statement said.
Also killed in the same attack were fellow military police members Staff Sgt. Joshua A. Throckmorton, 28, of Battle Creek Mich. and Specialist Preston J. Suter, 22, Sandy, Utah. All three men were assigned to the 709th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Hohenfels, Germany.
Schumannís remains arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Thursday.

Funeral held for soldier killed in Afghanistan

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A 24-year-old soldier killed in Afghanistan has been laid to rest in Florida.

Army Spc. Jordan C. Schumann was killed on July 5 after the Humvee he was riding in ran over a land mine.

Hundreds of friends and family attended a funeral service for Schumann on Friday. His family was honored with a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol.

Clay Schumann, his father, described his son as a one of a kind kid who had immense loyalty to his friends and family.

Friends carried U.S. flags and signs in support of the soldier's family
