Staff Sgt. Dick A. Lee Jr., 31, of Orange Park, Fla., who was assigned to 95th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Sembach, Germany. He died April 26, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. SSgt Lee graduated from Keystone Heights high school in 2000. He joined the army to become a military police K-9 handler. His assigned Military Working Dog, Fibi, died April 26, as well. Lee was attached to the 529th Military Police Company, 95th MP Battalion, 18th MP Brigade in Sembach, Germany. He deployed to Afghanistan in January 2012. Surviving SSgt. Lee is his wife, Katherine Lee, a native of Shreveport, La., and their two sons, David, 4, and Joshua, 2; his mother, Brenda Carroll, and her husband, Larry, of Keystone Heights, FL; his father, Dick Lee, of Newcastle, OK; a sister, Vanessa Compton, and her husband Danny of Fort Riley, KS; his nephews, Zachary, Devin and Eric, of Fort Riley, KS and a brother, Michael Carroll, of Keystone Heights, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073. | ||||||||
