Sgt. Timothy Robert Stephens
September 27, 1983 - July 28, 2012
SHERIDAN - Timothy was born on September 27, 1983 in The Dalles, Oregon to Mark and Debbie Stephens. He passed away on July 28, 2012 in Harker Heights, Texas.
The family settled in Dallas in 1998 where Timothy was active in the Assembly of God Church and youth group. He was home schooled during his high school years and then attended Salem Bible College for a year. Timothy worked at Camp Davidson in Sisters for three summers before joining the Army. Timothy entered active duty service in October 2004 as a fire support specialist.
He arrived at Fort Hood in March 2006 and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since October 2005.
He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2006 to December 2007 and December 2008 to November 2009. He also deployed in support of Operation New Dawn from February 2011 to November 2011. |

Sergeant Timothy Robert Stephens
FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died July 28 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Harker Heights, Texas.
Sergeant Timothy Robert Stephens, 28, whose home of record is McMinnville, Ore., entered active duty service in October 2004 as a fire support specialist. He arrived at Fort Hood in March 2006 and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since October 2005.
Stephens deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2006 to December 2007 and December 2008 to November 2009. He also deployed in support of Operation New Dawn from February 2011 to November 2011.
Stephens awards and decorations include four Army Commendation Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle. |

Local Man Killed When Truck Hit Tree During Police Chase Identified
HARKER HEIGHTS (July 30, 2012)—A man who died when his truck crashed into a tree as he attempted to elude Harker Heights Police early Saturday morning was identified Monday as Fort Hood Sgt. Timothy Stephens, 28, of McMinnville, Ore.
Stephens died after a chase that started just after 2 a.m. Saturday when Harker Heights Police attempted to pull over a speeding and swerving truck in the 300 block of Indian Trail Drive.
At first the driver appeared to be stopping, but then the truck sped up and headed onto Clore Road, police said.
As the driver attempted to escape, the truck jumped a curb and hit at least one mailbox and then headed to Amy Lane, turning onto East Robin, police said.
Once on East Robin police say the truck left the roadway and hit a tree.
The impact caused a fire that was quickly extinguished, police said.
Stephens,who was not wearing a seat belt, died of injuries sustained during the impact of the crash, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stephens deployed to Iraq from October 2006 to December 2007, December 2008 to November 2009 and from February 2011 to November 2011, Fort Hood said Monday.
He had been assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division’s Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team since October 2005. |
