Specialist Lee W. Brasher June 23, 1966 - Apr. 1, 2014 The Oregon National Guard community is saddened at the passing of Spc. Lee W. Brasher. Spc. Brasher was born in Decateur, Ala.to Susan Doyal and James Brasher. He completed his General Education Development Test in March 1990 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in History. He served in the United States Marine Corps from Jan. 1, 1985 until Jan. 7, 1989. After completing his enlistment, Spc. Brasher entered the Oregon Army National Guard on Jan. 20, 2004 until Mar. 25, 2012. During this time, Brasher was deployed twice; once to Afghanistan from June 9, 2006 – June 2, 2007 and then to Iraq Aug. 21, 2009 – April 23, 2010. After a short break, Brasher reentered the Oregon Army National Guard on Sept. 21, 2012 and was assigned to Charlie Company 141st Brigade Support Battalion. Spc.Brasher always loved being a Soldier and lived to serve his community and fellow Soldiers. His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with two bronze stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with one bronze star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Nato Medal, Oregon Superior Soldier Award, Oregon Faithful Service Award, Combat Action Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 8, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott, Blvd., Portland, Ore. 97086.
