 Died in the crash of an Iraqi air force aircraft during a training mission in eastern Diyala province.

Thank you sir for the wonderful tribute you have paid to my son. Derek graduated from the Air Force Academy on Memorial Day, 2001. He fell in Iraq on Memorial Day, 2005. No mother could ask for a greater and more remarkable son. He knew in the fifth grade that someday, he would lay down his life for this country. There is also a wonderful story he wrote in the fifth grade about the flag and Memorial Day. God bless you sir for remembering our heroes.
