Army Major Sid W. Brookshire Army Major Sid W Brookshire, 36, son of James Brookshire, formerly of Willard and now residing in Anahuac, Texas, and grandson of the late County Judge S. N. Brookshire, died on active duty in Iraq on June 20, 2007. Sid was born in Honolulu Hawaii, on September 11,1970. He was a graduate of Willard High School and of Southwest Missouri State University; and a 2006 graduate of the War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He was a 14 year Army veteran, first serving with the Army National Guard of Missouri and then as a commissioned officer after graduating from Southwest Missouri State University. Based at Fort Stewart Georgia, he was a Ranger on his first deployment to Iraq. He loved motorcycles and the outdoors. He was a man of kindness, courage and strength. He is also survived by his wife, Karin, and daughters, Faith Ann and Bethany, currently of Richmond Hills, Georgia; his mother, JoBeth of California; stepmother, Jackie Brookshire of Anahuac Texas; sister, Lisa Manon and her daughter, Alice, of Spring, Texas; stepsisters, Angelina Santa Maria of Connecticut, Sherry Lopez and Ronda Langley of Arizona, Christine Ledo of California, and Georgina Macala of Houston Texas; and many other family members in Missouri and California. Services have not yet been scheduled. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to the Springfield-Greene County Library, Attention Lorraine Sandstrom-Branch Manager, PO Box 760, Springfield MO 65801, for the Willard Branch. |
