Tennessee soldier killed in Afghanistan

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. - A Tennessee soldier with the 101st Airborne Division has died after his dismounted patrol received small arms fire at an outpost in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Army.
Spc. Jeremy Lynn Brown, 20, of McMinnville, was a fire support specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, according to authorities. Brown was killed Sunday, Mother's Day.
He joined the Army in June 2007 and arrived at Fort Campbell in May 2009.
His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
