From Heather 08/26/06 Tributes from local paper:

My Friend Roger... it brings a smile to my face when i remember Roger at First Data.. he made our days enjoyable. Sometimes he had us tears from his silly jokes.. He was one of a kind .. and it was a honor to know such a Great Hero.. All though i hadnt seen him since he left First Data.. I know Roger was a great Man.. by looking at his pictures I have seen ,it tells you a story about him. One thing i will always remember is his Smile.. i dont think i ever saw him angry at anyone. He was a great son, father and brother .. The Garza family must be very proud to have him in their family.. i dont know what it feels like to lose a father, son , or a brother so i am so saddened by the pain that this family is going through. This family is a strong family. Cindy you are in my prayers. God bless you and your loving family..Roger Garza .. ( roger dodger) Rest In Peace.. I know you are looking down on your family giving them all the strength they need to make it without you..

When I last spoke with Roger he was telling me proudly of his joining in the the military, and of the new additions to his family. Like always, he had a friendly and outgoing manner about him when he spoke. I was very sad when I heard the news about Roger. He had such a wonderful personality and always looked on the brighter side of things. Roger, we will always have you in our hearts, and your family in our prayers.

In death, Roger has become one of the heroes of our nation. In life, he was a hero to your family his entire life. Although his time on earth was all too brief, his kind disposition and good nature made the world a better place.

Carla, to you and the rest of your family, on behalf of my mom, my son, and the rest of the Trevino family, we send our heartfelt sympathies during this most difficult time in your lives. While words escape me right now, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. And as always, my love to each of you.

Godspeed. Sonia

Thank you Roger for your unselfish service to protect our freedom and our country; and those less fortunate not living in a free society. You have paid the ultimate price on earth, but your reward in heaven is priceless. Thank you is not enough...may God give your family peace, love and serenity and may your children grow up knowing what a special "Daddy" they had. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news about Rogers passing. I can still remember when we were younger, running around the little league in Robstown. Roger was always the one trying to "get" us and we would run and scream like crazy. Even though we have lost touch through the years, you are still a dear friend, and I am here for you and your family if you need anything. Roger was such a great person with such zeal about life and a lively personality. He will definitely be missed, but definitely not forgotten. My prayers are with you and your family. May God grant you the peace and comfort that you need during this trying time.

Although I did not know Mr. Garza I want to thank his parents for raising a young man to fight for his country and protect people he did not know. Thanks for fighting for our freedom. May God bless the family and be with them at their time of sorrow. May God be with his Wife and children and watch over them.

This is such a sad situation but I am so proud to know Roger. He was so happy and he was the man of the family for such a young age. It was a blessing to know Roger even if you were a stranger passing him in the street.
