 Killed in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations.

SPC Ronald W. Gebur was born on 2 October 1982 in Delavan, Illinois.

SPC Gebur entered the United States Army as an Infantryman on 14 March 2004. He graduated from Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.. Upon graduation from AIT, SPC Gebur was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 1st BCT, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

SPC Gebur’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, The Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

SPC Gebur is survived by his wife, Bethany; his son Gabe of Killeen, Texas; and his parents Larry and Debra Gebur of Delavan, Illinois

Ron was a dedicated young man who had so much potential for future leadership positions and advancement. He was a great loss to his platoon and is sorely missed.
