From SFC Michael Sampsell 11/21/08:

Attached you will find a photo of SGT Adrian Edward Hike. The only photo I have is with both of us. Adrian is on the right as you look at it. Adrian was my best friend and the best Team Leader I have ever served with. The photo is from 2004 when we fought together in Iraq with the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One). We fought together again in Afghanistan with the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) from May 07 until 12 NOV 07 when he was killed along with CPT David Albin Boris (Also pictured on your website) by an Improvised Explosive Device just outside Bermel District, Paktika Province, Afghanistan.

He was a good friend and my family loved him every bit as much as I did. My children called him "Uncle Hikey". Thank you for paying tribute to him and all the others that have showed us that freedom is not free and that liberty does not keep itself.
Very Respectfully,
Sergeant First Class Michael A. Sampsell
