William Clark Howell III Born August 23, 1967. Attached are three pictures of my son Bill, who died on March 14, 2004 by his own hand at the age of 36 shortly after his return from Iraq. Bill was a career Army man who loved the Army his family and his country. He had a wife and two children and one other child from a former marriage. He was attached to the 10th Special Forces at the time of his death. He had served two terms in Iraq and over the years had served in many many places and conflicts around the world. He was awarded several bronze stars. Bill was born in Van Nuys, California (at home) and lived in Colorado, Ohio, Illinois and Texas before his 17-year stint with the Army began. He began his career at Fort Benning and progressed from there. He aspired to be a gunsmith upon his retirement and was proficient and knowledgeable regarding firearms and was known for his abilities to accurize model 1911 .45 caliber handguns. He also customized and won prizes for excellence with his motorcycles. He could build a house if he wanted to. He was a very special person, full of life and laughs and was the apple of the eye of all of us in the Howell family. We still miss him mightily and pray that his soul has passed into the hands of the Lord. |
