Sgt Kaschmitter joined the Marines right out of high school. He went into aircraft maintenance and was crew chief on the V-22 Osprey. He served on the first combat deployment of the aircraft in Iraq in 2007-2008. He can be seen numerous times in the History channel special "Flight of the V-22 Osprey" in the background as well as one close up non speaking shot. His unit was VMM-263, Thunder Chickens. He had just completed his 6th year of service and was looking forward to a full career of 30 years. Sgt Kaschmitter passed away on July 13, 2009 at Bethesda Naval Hospital, in Bethesda, MD. |
