CPL. CHRISTOPHER D. LEON
Born November 5, 1985, in Thousand Oaks, Calif. He was killed in action on June 20, 2006, in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was at a combat outpost on the southwest side of Ramadi when his position started taking fire. Cpl. Leon and his team took up positions on the roof to find the source of fire when he was struck. Cpl. Leon died from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan. 
He deeply loved his family and his fiancé Aimey. Chris had a fabulous smile, great sense of humor and a huge heart. He was strong willed, determined, excelled in sports and took great pride in being in top physical condition. He had many friends and he knew the importance of those friendships. Chris loved animals especially his dog “Gusto”. 
Chris excelled in the Marine Corp., reaching the rank of Corporal in less than 2 years. He was the radio chief assigned to 5th Anglico, 3rd MEF, an elite assault team. Survived by his parents James and Kathi Leon, fiancé Aimey Vaccaro, grandparents, Lucien and Rita Hemond, aunts and uncles LoriAnn and Robert Lumley, Paul and Margo Hemond, cousins, Anna Lumley and Andy Hemond. Birth mom Nikki Ruhl, Nikki’s mother Sue Ruhl, Nikki’s sister Tracy Rossi and family. He is also survived by his brothers of 5th Anglico 3rd MEF Unit, Okinawa, Japan and many other friends. 
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Desert Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Graveside service with full Military Honors will be held following the service at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary.
