BOULDER, Colo. (AP/CBS4) ―

The Defense Department says a 31-year-old Boulder man is among four Marines killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq last week.

The military said Thursday that Sgt. Glen E. Martinez was killed May 2 in Anbar province.

Martinez was born in Alamosa and grew up in Monte Vista. He played quarterback for the high school football team for three years and competed in the state wrestling tournament three times.

He had two college degrees and had moved to Boulder when he decided to enlist in the Marines. He met his future wife during training at Camp Pendleton.

The couple got married in February 2006 before being deployed to Iraq. Melissa Sue Martinez is from Denver but has been stationed in Iraq.

She will accompany her body's home for burial in Monte Vista.

Also killed in the roadside bombing Fallujah were Lance Cpl. Casey L. Casanova, 22 of McComb, Miss., Cpl. Miguel A. Guzman, 21 of Norwalk, Calif., and Lance Cpl. James F. Kimple, 21 of Carroll, Ohio.

All were assigned to the Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

The attack was the most lethal in Anbar since Sept. 6, when four Marines were killed in combat.
