 Died in Asadabad, Afghanistan, from an IED detonated near their vehicle in Wygal Valley, Afghanistan earlier.

Sergeant Charles John “CJ” McClain 26 of Colliers died Tuesday, October 31, 2006 as the result of an IED explosion in Afghanistan. 
He was born on September 29, 1980 in New Kennsington, PA a son of Anita McClain Hone of Weirton, WV. 

He is preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather, Martin McClain, Sr. 

CJ enlisted in the US Army in 2001 and was a member of Alpha Company 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion out of Fort Drum, NY and served as Sapper Team Leader and did two tours in Iraq and was on a tour in Afghanistan. He also received the Purple Heart for bravery during Operation Enduring Freedom. 

He was Methodist by faith. 

Surviving in addition to his mother are two Sons, Logan Jack Fair of Pittsburgh, PA Kole J. Swihart of Emporia, KS Two Sisters, Alexandria Charm Manley and Christian Noel Manley both of Weirton, WV His Maternal Grandmother, Beatrice Meyers and husband David of Oakmont, PA His Paternal Grandmother, Shirley Kearns of Wellsburg, WV 

Friends will be received on Friday, November 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the James Funeral Home 1245 Main St. Follansbee, WV where services will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dana Hiles officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Eldersville, PA. Full military honors will be conducted by a Memorial Detachment from Fort Knox, KY.
