Family statement to the Media Caesar Samuel Viglienzone joined the Army in October 2004. Caesar earned his Air Assault Wings in June while stationed at Ft Campbell, Kentucky with the 101st Airborne Division. He turned 21 on Sept. 10, 2005 while in Kentucky. Two weeks later he deployed to Iraq. In his last email to his cousin, Sam, he said “Iraq is definitely going to be okay. The Iraqis don’t hate us, they almost all wave at us and seem to like us. The vast majority of Iraqis want us here; not to keep occupying their country forever but want us to stay, finish the job, and pass the torch on to them.” Caesar was born in Honolulu and lived in Santa Rosa most of his life, graduating from Santa Rosa schools. He had many interests including diving for abalone, which he learned when he was 13 years old. He also enjoyed playing drums and guitar, camping with his family, and playing cards with friends and family. Caesar’s decision to join the Army was born from a desire to do something he could be proud of and all of his family could be proud of. He was proud of himself and we are proud of him. He leaves behind many relatives and friends and will be sorely missed. Caesar was our only child and the light of our lives. Norma & Dennis Viglienzone ( Parents ) |
