SPOKANE VALLEY -- Hundreds of people showed up at 23 year old Josh Dumaw's family home Sunday to honor him. He was killed several weeks ago in Afghanistan by an improvised explosive device.
This morning's procession initially was planned to involved fewer than a couple dozen motorcycles. But word spread fast and people from all over felt it was their duty to honor Josh Dumaw.
Last Tuesday, Doug Burke decided he would get 21 bikes together. Each rider would sign an American flag and present it to Cpl. Josh Dumaw's parents and pregnant wife. Several hundred riders from all over the northwest showed up. They even came as far away as Colorado.
With engines fire up, the riders left Longhorn Barbecue on a short procession to Dumaw's family Spokane Valley home. They presented Josh's wife, Kailyn, the American Flag plus donations and gifts for her unborn son.
Before leaving all at once, every biker revved their engines for two minutes. It was a tribute like non other for his family. It is one they admire and one they respect.
Kailyn Dumaw is expecting in September. She plans to name the boy after his father. She says she will frame the flag and explain this day to him one day. |
