Fatal Fort Irwin traffic collision still under investigation

FORT IRWIN — Military authorities are continuing an investigation into the motorcycle collision that killed a Fort Irwin soldier on post last week.

Sgt. Jonathan M. Tidwell, 28, of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., died Thursday afternoon at Loma Linda University Medical Center from injuries sustained during a collision the day before, said John Wagstaffe, a spokesman for Fort Irwin.

Tidwell’s motorcycle collided with a truck near the intersection of Outer Loop Road and Lane Mountain. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Squadron, 11th Cavalry Regiment. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at the Main Chapel at Fort Irwin at 2 p.m.
